Pricing & Preparing Your Items

Pricing Rules:
  • All items should be priced in .50 increments (i.e. $1.00, $1.50, etc.).

Pricing Guidelines:

Other than the above, you are welcome to price your items however you like.  Here are some general guidelines based on experience to help you:

  • As a rule of thumb, the lower you price your items, the more likely they will sell.  Take into account the brand, age and condition.
  • Typically, items in great condition will sell for 25-50% of their original retail price.
  • As you price merchandise, ask yourself: "How much would I be willing to pay for this?"
  • Clothing in sizes 0-6 months usually don’t sell as well and are often in abundance.  Consider pricing lower.
  • Books tend to sell for $1 - $2, not much more.
  • Furniture and equipment usually sell for 30%-50% of original retail price.
Tips on getting the BEST PRICE for your merchandise:

Here are some suggestions on making your merchandise most appealing:
  • Limit 100 gently used clothing items per consignor id number (sets count as 1 piece)
  • Clothing that is laundered and not wrinkled sells better.  Clothing should be ready to wear.
  • Group matching outfits together and price as a set (i.e. dress, bloomers & tights).  Use safety pins to connect pieces together.
  • We will not accept clothing with stains, rips, holes, broken zippers, & missing buttons.
  • Shoes will only be accepted if they are gently worn or new. (no limit on New Shoes, gently worn shoes limit 10 per consignor id number.
  • Non-clothing items should be clean and ready to use with all pieces intact.
  • If an item is New or new with tags (NWT), add that description to the price tag.

Tagging your merchandise:

Here are the guidelines to follow when tagging:

  • Safety Pin/ Tape/ Tie your tags securely on your items so that they don't come off.  This is how you ensure that you will be paid for your items.

Clothing:

  • Pin tag on the Upper Right hand corner of the item or on the inside label/size tag.
  • Tag should face forward so that they can easily be read.
  • Tag must be pinned with a Safety Pin or a tagging gun,
  • The hanger should face left (like a question mark "?"),
  • Staples or straight pins are NOT allowed.
  • Pants should be secured to hanger with safety pins ONLY, no clothes-pins.  Do not fold pants over the hanger.  They fall off easily, and shoppers generally only look at items that are presented well.
  • If you have any items that are new with tags (NWT), leave the original store tags on them.  This will increase the appeal of the item.

Shoes:

  • Tie Shoes together by the laces (or velcro tabs) or put shoes in a clear zip-lock bag so they stay together,
  • Tag must be attached to the laces (or velcro tabs) or taped to the front of the plastic zip-lock bag.
  • New shoes may be kept in the original box.

Books/ Media:

  • Tape your tag to the back cover of your book.
  • For DVD's & CD's, tape the tag on the back.

Small Loose Toys:

  • If you have small toys with lots of loose pieces (ex. blocks, small cars, soldiers) put them all in a Ziploc style bag. Use Ziploc style "Big Bags" for larger pieces, if needed.
  • Secure the top of the bag with packing tape.
  • Tape your tag on the top of the main item.

Larger Items/ Furniture:

  • Attach the tag in a visible place using a safety pin or packing tape.

Please consider having your items be part of the 50% sale.  Sellers who participate in the 50% off sale have significantly higher percentage of items that sell, resulting in a larger check & less items to pick up.  The 50% off Sale will be bigger & better then ever!  All Clothing & shoes on the sales floor will be 1/2 off during the 50% off day.

When you are entering your tags, please mark all clothing and shoes for DISCOUNT.

Each consignor id is limited to 200 items total.  100 pieces can be gently used clothing items and 10 pair of gently used shoes.  The remaining 90 items should be non-clothing pieces (i.e. toys, gear, books, decor, etc).  There is no limit on clothing & shoes that are Brand New.  If consignors have more than 100 gently used clothing items, please register for an additional consignor number.
